Thriving at Home Homeschool Support

Homeschooling allows you, as the parent, to create a school environment and educational approach that is uniquely customized to the needs of your child. But sometimes meeting these unique needs can be challenging.

If your student is struggling in the homeschool environment, our occupational therapy services offered through Thriving at Home Homeschool Support may be able to help by addressing the unique needs of your student. Our occupational therapist collaborates with families to address fundamental underlying concerns limiting educational progress such as developing necessary physical skills, learning cognitive strategies, or modifying the home setup to optimize learning. Occupational therapy services are private pay, meaning you—not your insurance company—are in control of the scope and frequency of therapy services.

In addition to occupational therapy training and experience, our therapist also has the unique perspective of being both a homeschool graduate and a homeschool parent, uniquely equipping her to see things from both you and your student’s perspectives when collaborating with you both to develop solutions to your schooling needs.

Please note that while this service can be provided remotely via telehealth, initial evaluations/consultations and follow-up sessions are currently available only to students and families physically located within the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Initial Evaluation and Consultation $100 In the initial 60 minute evaluation and consultation, our therapist will work with you and your student to identify the challenges you are facing in the homeschool environment and develop a plan for addressing those challenges in a uniquely customized manner. A written report will be completed as part of the initial evaluation and consultation and made available to the parent and student. This service is billed directly to you, not your medical insurance. If you plan to submit for insurance reimbursement, please let us know so that we can confirm that we meet any reimbursement requirements they might have.

Follow-Up Sessions $60/hour Follow-up sessions allow a chance to evaluate progress towards goals and adjust plans and strategies as needed to ensure that your student is able to be as successful as possible within your homeschool environment. A recommendation for frequency of follow-up sessions will be provided with the initial evaluation and consultation. The final decision on frequency and duration of follow-up sessions is completely up to the parent and/or child and there is no obligation to continue with follow-up sessions after completing an initial evaluation and consultation. This service is billed directly to you, not your medical insurance. If you plan to submit for insurance reimbursement, please let us know so that we can confirm that we meet any reimbursement requirements they might have.
